The album, entitled "Music for the New Millennium," was released in September of 1999 by Sony Music Entertainment under the banner of an international division. The first two singles on the album, "Cinema and Music" and "Music for the World", were released by the Japanese-based music unit of the same name. In January 2000, the international version of "Music for the New Millennium" was released by Sony Music Entertainment under the banner of a "special purpose unit". It contained new music by the Japanese band The New Day.
In May 2001, Warner Music Japan put out a single CD called "Music for the New Millennium", and the album was re-released in May 2003 by Sony Music Japan. The single CD contained new music by the Japanese band The New Day.
In August 2003, Universal Music Europe re-released the album with the title of "Music for the New Millennium," but with new music by the Japanese band The New Day. The album included remixes of the songs "Lipstick" and "Fashion, Style", as well as the song "Dressing for the Party". The "New Day" remix of the song "Fashion, Style" was the fifth song released on the single CD, and it featured lyrics from the French song "Le Livre (The Life)".
In November 2007, Sony Music Japan reissued the album with the title "Music for the New Millennium", this time without any changes to the artwork and a new track titled "Dressing for the Party", which also included lyrics from the Japanese song "Fa Shion, Style". This was the fourth single release on the single CD and it featured the song "Life". The "New Day" remix of the song "Fa Shion, Style" was the third track released on the single CD and it featured the lyrics from the French song "Le Livre (The Life)", as well as the original version of the Japanese song "Lipstick". The "Lipstick" remix of the song "Fa Shion, Style" was the second song released on the single CD and it featured the lyrics from the French song "Fa Shion, Style", as well as the original version of the Japanese song "Lipstick".

The Japanese version has four verses, three verses and a refrain, the English version has three verses and a refrain, and the re-edited version has two verses, one verse and a refrain. The original English version of the Japanese song "Life" was included on the Japanese CD, along with the Japanese version of "Fa Shion, Style" and the Japanese version of "Lipstick".
